California Proposition 65

Truxarmor Inc. ("Truxarmor," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to providing customers with appropriate product information and complying with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

California's Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, commonly known as Proposition 65 ("Prop 65"), requires businesses to provide warnings to California consumers regarding significant exposures to chemicals identified by the State of California as causing cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

The State of California maintains and periodically updates the list of chemicals covered by Proposition 65.

1. Why You May See a Proposition 65 Warning

Certain Truxarmor products, product components, packaging, or materials may contain or result in exposure to chemicals identified by the State of California under Proposition 65.

Depending on the product and applicable exposure assessment, a Proposition 65 warning may appear:

On a product;
On product packaging;
On a product label;
In product instructions;
On a product webpage;
During online checkout; or
In other materials accompanying the product.

A Proposition 65 warning does not necessarily mean that a product violates any product safety standard or regulation.

The warning is intended to provide California consumers with information regarding potential exposure to listed chemicals as required by California law.

2. Proposition 65 Warnings and Automotive Products

Automotive and aftermarket vehicle products may contain materials or components that include chemicals appearing on California's Proposition 65 list.

5. What a Proposition 65 Warning Means

A Proposition 65 warning means that a business has determined that an exposure to one or more chemicals listed by the State of California may occur at a level or under circumstances for which California law requires or supports providing a warning.

Proposition 65 warning requirements can be more stringent than certain federal requirements governing product warnings.

The presence of a Proposition 65 warning does not necessarily mean that the product is unsafe when used as intended, nor does it necessarily mean that the product violates federal or other state product safety standards.

Consumers should follow all product instructions, warnings, installation procedures, and safety information supplied with Truxarmor products.

6. Product-Specific Warnings

Not every Truxarmor product necessarily contains the same materials or presents the same potential exposures.

Accordingly, Proposition 65 warnings may differ from one product to another.

Customers should rely on the warning associated with the specific product being purchased rather than assuming that a general website notice applies identically to every Truxarmor product.

Where required, product-specific Proposition 65 information may be displayed on the applicable product page or provided with the product.

7. Online and Catalog Sales

For products sold to California consumers through the Truxarmor website or other applicable remote-sales channels, Truxarmor may display a Proposition 65 warning on or in connection with the applicable product listing or otherwise before completion of the purchase where required by California law.

The warning provided online may correspond to a warning provided on or with the physical product.

8. Authorized Dealers and Distributors

Truxarmor products may also be sold through authorized dealers, distributors, retailers, installers, and other third-party sellers.

Where required by applicable law, Truxarmor may provide Proposition 65 warning information to businesses within its distribution chain so that appropriate warnings can be provided to California consumers.

Authorized sellers are responsible for complying with applicable Proposition 65 obligations applicable to their activities, including displaying or transmitting warnings supplied for applicable Truxarmor products when required by law.

9. Do Not Remove Product Warnings

Dealers, distributors, installers, resellers, and consumers should not remove, obscure, alter, or cover Proposition 65 warnings supplied with applicable Truxarmor products.

Product packaging, labels, tags, instructions, and warning materials should remain with the product where appropriate.

10. Product Installation and Use

Customers should install and use Truxarmor products only in accordance with applicable Truxarmor installation instructions, product warnings, and safety information.

Customers should also:

Wash hands after handling products when instructed;
Avoid unnecessary exposure to dust or residue generated by drilling, grinding, cutting, sanding, or modifying automotive components;
Use appropriate personal protective equipment when performing installation procedures that generate dust, particles, fumes, or other potentially hazardous materials; and
Follow applicable workplace, environmental, and product safety requirements.

Unauthorized modification of Truxarmor products is not recommended and may increase exposure to materials that would not ordinarily be encountered during normal product use.

11. Proposition 65 Chemical List

The State of California maintains the official Proposition 65 list of chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

The list is maintained by the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) and is periodically updated.

Consumers seeking additional information about Proposition 65, listed chemicals, and California warning requirements should consult the official California Proposition 65 resources provided by OEHHA.

12. No Universal Warning Representation

The inclusion of this California Proposition 65 Notice on the Truxarmor website does not mean that every Truxarmor product requires a Proposition 65 warning.

Warnings are provided for particular products or exposures when determined appropriate based on applicable California requirements.

Similarly, the absence of a warning on this general informational page should not be interpreted as a representation regarding the chemical composition of any particular product.

Product-specific warnings, where applicable, should be reviewed before purchase and use.

13. Changes to Proposition 65 Requirements

California periodically updates the Proposition 65 chemical list, regulations, warning methods, and warning language.

This Installation & Product Use Disclaimer applies to products manufactured, distributed, or sold by Truxarmor Inc. ("Truxarmor," "we," "our," or "us").

Truxarmor products are designed for specific automotive applications and must be properly selected, installed, maintained, inspected, and used.

Please read all product instructions, warnings, specifications, and safety information before installing or using any Truxarmor product.

Failure to properly install, maintain, inspect, or use a Truxarmor product may result in product failure, vehicle damage, property damage, serious personal injury, or death.

1. Professional Installation Recommended

Unless otherwise expressly stated in the product instructions, Truxarmor recommends installation by a qualified automotive technician, professional installer, or other person experienced with automotive aftermarket accessories.

Installation may require specialized tools, mechanical knowledge, proper torque procedures, vehicle-specific knowledge, or other technical experience.

If you are uncertain about any installation procedure, stop installation and contact Truxarmor or a qualified professional before proceeding.

Do not attempt an installation that exceeds your mechanical knowledge or abilities.

2. Read Instructions Before Installation

Before beginning installation, carefully read all instructions, warnings, specifications, labels, and other documentation supplied with the product.

The installer is responsible for:

Reviewing the complete installation instructions;
Confirming that all required components and hardware are present;
Understanding the installation procedure;
Using appropriate tools;
Following applicable torque specifications;
Following all safety warnings; and
Confirming proper installation before operating the vehicle.

Do not install a product if instructions are missing, damaged, or unclear. Contact Truxarmor for assistance before proceeding.

3. Verify Vehicle Fitment

The purchaser and installer are responsible for confirming that the product is intended for the specific vehicle before installation.

Vehicle compatibility may depend on factors including:

Model year;
Make;
Model;
Trim level;
Cab configuration;
Bed length;
Bed configuration;
Factory options;
Bed liners;
Bed caps;
Utility tracks;
Cargo management systems;
Existing aftermarket accessories; and
Vehicle modifications.

Do not force a product to fit a vehicle or application for which it was not designed.

If fitment appears incorrect, stop installation and contact Truxarmor before modifying the product or vehicle.

4. Inspect Product Before Installation

Before installation, inspect the product and all components for:

Shipping damage;
Missing hardware;
Bent or damaged components;
Cracks;
Manufacturing irregularities;
Incorrect parts; and
Other visible conditions that could affect installation or safe operation.

Do not install a product that appears damaged, defective, incomplete, or incorrect.

Installation of an obviously damaged or incorrect product may affect return eligibility as described in the Truxarmor Return & Refund Policy.

5. Vehicle Condition

The installer is responsible for determining whether the vehicle is in suitable condition for installation.

Do not install a Truxarmor product onto damaged, weakened, excessively corroded, improperly repaired, or structurally compromised mounting locations.

Existing vehicle damage or deterioration may affect product installation, fitment, performance, and safety.

6. Installation Hardware

Use only appropriate hardware supplied or approved for the installation unless the Truxarmor installation instructions expressly specify otherwise.

Do not substitute mounting hardware with components of unknown strength, dimensions, specifications, or quality.

All fasteners, clamps, brackets, mounting points, and other attachment components must be properly positioned and secured.

Over-tightening or under-tightening fasteners may cause product failure or vehicle damage.

Where torque specifications are provided, follow them carefully.

7. Post-Installation Inspection

After installation and before operating the vehicle, inspect the complete installation.

Confirm that:

All fasteners are properly tightened;
All brackets and clamps are properly positioned;
The product is securely attached;
Moving components operate correctly;
Latches and locks operate correctly;
The product does not interfere with vehicle controls or safety equipment;
The product does not interfere with doors, tailgates, lights, cameras, sensors, or other vehicle components; and
No tools, hardware, packaging, or loose objects remain on or around the vehicle.

Do not operate the vehicle until the installation has been verified as safe and secure.

8. Fastener and Hardware Reinspection

Vehicle vibration, road conditions, temperature changes, repeated operation, and normal use may cause mounting hardware to loosen over time.

Customers should inspect mounting hardware periodically and after initial use.

Fasteners, clamps, brackets, latches, hinges, rails, and other attachment points should be inspected and retightened as necessary according to the applicable product instructions.

Never operate the vehicle with loose, damaged, missing, or improperly secured mounting hardware.

9. Intended Use Only

Truxarmor products must be used only for their intended purpose and within their stated specifications.

Do not:

Overload the product;
Stand, sit, climb, or ride on a product unless expressly designed for that purpose;
Use the product to tow or recover a vehicle unless specifically rated for that purpose;
Use the product as a lifting or jacking point unless specifically designed and rated for that purpose;
Attach cargo to components not designed as tie-down points;
Exceed stated load or weight ratings; or
Use a damaged or improperly secured product.

10. Load Ratings and Cargo

Where a Truxarmor product includes a specified load or weight rating, that rating must not be exceeded.

Load ratings may depend on:

Proper installation;
Vehicle condition;
Weight distribution;
Dynamic vehicle movement;
Road conditions; and
Proper use.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, a published static load rating should not be interpreted as an equivalent dynamic load rating while the vehicle is moving.

Cargo must be properly secured independently using appropriate restraints and tie-down methods.

Truxarmor products should not be relied upon as the sole means of securing cargo unless the product is expressly designed and rated for that purpose.

11. Tonneau Cover Safety

For Truxarmor tonneau covers, customers must ensure that the cover is properly secured before operating the vehicle.

Depending on the product design:

Confirm all panels are properly positioned;
Confirm latches are fully engaged;
Confirm clamps and rails are secure;
Confirm folded or raised panels are properly secured using the provided retention system;
Do not operate the vehicle with unsecured panels;
Do not place objects on top of the cover unless the specific product is designed and rated to support such loads;
Do not allow passengers or animals to ride on top of or inside an enclosed truck bed; and
Never operate a tonneau cover in a configuration prohibited by the product instructions.

Never drive with a tonneau cover, panel, or component unsecured. An unsecured component may separate from the vehicle and create a serious road hazard.

12. Headache Racks and Bed Racks

Headache racks, bed racks, and similar products must be securely mounted using the approved installation method.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, a headache rack should not be considered a substitute for a certified cargo barrier, cab guard, rollover protection system, or other federally regulated vehicle safety system.

Accessories or cargo mounted to a rack must remain within the applicable load limits and must be independently secured.

Adding accessories or cargo may affect:

Vehicle handling;
Vehicle height;
Vehicle clearance;
Center of gravity;
Wind resistance;
Fuel economy; and
Overall vehicle weight.

The driver is responsible for considering these changes before operating the vehicle.

13. Vehicle Height and Clearance

Certain Truxarmor products may increase the overall height, width, or dimensions of the vehicle.

The driver is responsible for knowing the vehicle's overall dimensions after installation.

Use caution around:

Parking structures;
Garages;
Car washes;
Drive-through facilities;
Low bridges;
Tree branches;
Loading docks;
Overhead signs; and
Other low-clearance obstacles.

Truxarmor is not responsible for damage resulting from failure to account for altered vehicle dimensions, except to the extent otherwise required by applicable law.

14. Automatic Car Washes

Certain products may not be compatible with all automatic car washes.

Brushes, rotating equipment, high-pressure water, chemicals, or other car wash equipment may damage or dislodge aftermarket accessories.

Review the applicable product instructions before entering an automatic car wash.

When uncertain, use a touchless or hand-wash method consistent with Truxarmor's product care recommendations.

15. Off-Road Use

Off-road driving may place significantly greater loads and stresses on products, mounting systems, hardware, and vehicle structures than normal on-road driving.

Unless a product is specifically designed and rated for off-road conditions, extreme off-road use may exceed the product's intended operating conditions.

After driving on rough roads or off-road terrain, inspect all mounting hardware, brackets, clamps, and attachment points before continued use.

16. Racing and Competition

Unless expressly stated otherwise, Truxarmor products are not designed or certified for racing or competitive motorsports use.

Use in racing, timed competition, or similar extreme applications may void applicable warranty coverage.

17. Product Modification

Do not modify a Truxarmor product unless the modification is expressly authorized by Truxarmor.

Unauthorized modifications may include:

Cutting;
Drilling;
Welding;
Grinding;
Bending;
Painting;
Powder coating;
Altering mounting points;
Changing structural components;
Removing safety devices;
Modifying latches or locks; or
Using non-approved components.

Unauthorized modifications may compromise product strength, safety, performance, corrosion protection, fitment, and warranty coverage.

18. Vehicle Modification

Aftermarket vehicle modifications may affect product fitment or performance.

These may include:

Bed liners;
Bed caps;
Toolboxes;
Utility rails;
Cargo systems;
Suspension modifications;
Body modifications;
Custom fabrication; and
Other aftermarket accessories.

Customers should verify compatibility before installation.

Truxarmor is not responsible for incompatibility caused by undisclosed or subsequently installed vehicle modifications except as otherwise required by law.

19. Maintenance

All Truxarmor products should be inspected and maintained periodically.

Maintenance may include:

Cleaning;
Inspection of fasteners;
Inspection of mounting points;
Inspection of clamps and brackets;
Inspection of hinges;
Inspection of seals;
Inspection of latches and locks;
Lubrication where specified; and
Inspection for corrosion, cracking, deformation, or damage.

Immediately discontinue use of any product that appears damaged, loose, cracked, deformed, excessively corroded, or otherwise unsafe.

20. Road Salt and Corrosive Environments

Products exposed to:

Road salt;
De-icing chemicals;
Coastal salt air;
Industrial contaminants;
Mud;
Fertilizers;
Agricultural chemicals; or
Other corrosive substances

should be cleaned regularly.

Failure to remove corrosive materials may result in premature corrosion or deterioration and may affect warranty coverage.

21. Cleaning Products

Use mild soap and water unless otherwise specified in the applicable product instructions.

Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, solvents, petroleum-based cleaners, or other aggressive cleaning products unless specifically approved by Truxarmor.

Improper chemicals may damage finishes, coatings, plastics, seals, adhesives, and other components.

22. Weather Conditions

Use additional caution during severe weather, including:

High winds;
Heavy rain;
Snow;
Ice;
Extreme heat;
Extreme cold; and
Severe storms.

Accumulated snow, ice, water, or debris may impose additional loads on certain products.

Do not allow loads to accumulate beyond the product's rated capacity.

23. Driver Responsibility

The driver is responsible for ensuring the vehicle is safe to operate before driving.

Before operating the vehicle, verify that all Truxarmor products, accessories, cargo, covers, racks, panels, latches, locks, straps, and related components are properly secured.

If unusual noise, vibration, movement, looseness, or other abnormal behavior is observed, safely stop the vehicle and inspect the product before continuing.

24. Compliance With Laws

The purchaser, installer, and vehicle operator are responsible for ensuring that installation and use of Truxarmor products comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Laws governing vehicle equipment, lighting visibility, license plate visibility, vehicle dimensions, cargo, and other modifications may vary by jurisdiction.

Truxarmor does not represent that every product or configuration is lawful for every vehicle or jurisdiction.

25. No Modification of Vehicle Safety Systems

Truxarmor products must not be installed in a manner that disables, obstructs, alters, or interferes with required vehicle safety equipment unless expressly permitted by the vehicle manufacturer and applicable law.

This may include:

Airbags;
Seat belts;
Cameras;
Parking sensors;
Radar systems;
Lighting;
Reflectors;
Brake lights;
Driver-assistance systems; and
Other safety-related equipment.

If installation may affect a vehicle safety system, consult a qualified professional before proceeding.

26. Assumption of Responsibility

Installation and use of automotive aftermarket products involve inherent risks.

The purchaser, installer, and user are responsible for properly selecting, installing, inspecting, maintaining, and using the product in accordance with Truxarmor's instructions and applicable law.

Nothing in this disclaimer is intended to waive or limit any rights or liabilities that cannot legally be waived or limited.

27. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Truxarmor shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages arising from improper installation, unauthorized modification, misuse, failure to maintain or inspect a product, exceeding product specifications, or use contrary to Truxarmor's instructions.

This may include, where permitted by law:

Loss of vehicle use;
Towing expenses;
Rental vehicle expenses;
Lost profits;
Business interruption;
Installation expenses;
Removal expenses; and
Reinstallation expenses.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

28. Warranty

Manufacturing defects are governed by the applicable Truxarmor Five (5) Year Limited Warranty.

Damage resulting from improper installation, misuse, unauthorized modification, neglect, failure to maintain the product, accidents, or other excluded conditions may not qualify for warranty coverage.

29. Product-Specific Instructions Control

This disclaimer provides general installation and product-use information.

Individual Truxarmor products may include additional product-specific:

Instructions;
Warnings;
Load ratings;
Torque specifications;
Maintenance requirements;
Operating limitations; and
Safety information.

Where product-specific instructions establish a more restrictive safety requirement than this general disclaimer, the product-specific requirement should be followed.

30. Stop Use if a Safety Concern Develops

Immediately stop using the product if you observe any condition that could affect safe operation, including:

Loose components;
Broken hardware;
Cracks;
Excessive corrosion;
Structural deformation;
Failed latches;
Unusual movement;
Unexpected noise;
Product separation; or
Any other condition indicating possible failure.

Do not continue using the product until the condition has been properly evaluated and corrected.

31. Changes to This Disclaimer

Truxarmor may update this Installation & Product Use Disclaimer periodically to reflect product developments, safety information, legal requirements, or changes in our business practices.

The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page identifies the most recent revision.
